Distance Learning

Dear Thomasville City Schools Community,

A few minutes ago, Gov. Brian Kemp announced an Executive Order that all public schools in Georgia are closed for in-person instruction through the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. We know it is difficult to process that Thomasville City Schools will be closed for in-person instruction the rest of this school year. However, this statewide closing is crucial for public health and safety.

Below are important updates as a result of this announcement.

Distance Learning Distance learning will continue. We will have more information regarding grading in the future. Our administrative team has been and will continue to work in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Education and the Governor's Office of Student Achievement.

Meal Service TCS will continue providing meal service at this point. Meal Service will not be provided during Spring Break.

Graduation  If at all possible, our goal is to hold graduation at a later date. We will continue working on multiple plans to make graduation the best it can possibly be given the circumstances. To the Class of 2020: we are especially thinking of you and know this is a difficult way to end your senior year.

This is a difficult time in our nation’s history and I urge each of you to continue to socially distance and help contain the spread of COVID-19. Each of us has the ability to make a positive impact in the interest of public health. We know the upcoming spring break is not what any of us had in mind but we do hope you will be able to take a break from academics and focus on time with your family.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to your principal if you have a specific need during this time.

Sincerely,

Ben Wiggins, Superintendent
